My Conversation on Theology Meets World with Jake Doberenz
I recently had the chance to talk with Jake Doberenz on his podcast Theology Meets World, where we explored one of my passions—how business and faith can work together for the common good. The episode, titled Business for Good and God, dives into how entrepreneurial ventures can be more than just profit-making machines—they can be powerful tools for social impact and Kingdom-building.
Key Points from the Episode:
Faith-Driven Entrepreneurship: In my conversation with Jake, I shared how my journey in ministry and nonprofit leadership led me to see entrepreneurship as a way to solve big societal problems. We talked about how Christians can leverage business to reflect God’s justice, love, and mercy, creating a meaningful impact in their communities.
Balancing the Bottom Line with the Kingdom’s Call: One of the biggest challenges for any Christian in business is balancing the need for profit with a commitment to God’s Kingdom. I’ve faced this tension myself over the years. In the episode, Jake and I discussed how entrepreneurs can keep their mission and values at the forefront, even in the pressures of the business world.
Leading with Integrity and Compassion: Christian leadership isn’t just about making decisions; it’s about making a difference. We dove into the topic of faith-driven leadership, unpacking how leading with integrity, compassion, and humility can transform not just your business, but the people and communities connected to it.
Social Entrepreneurship and Lasting Impact: Social entrepreneurship is a growing field where business meets social change. Jake and I explored how innovative business models can address poverty, inequality, and other major issues while staying rooted in faith. I shared examples of how businesses I’ve been involved with are making a difference and how others can do the same.
Advice for Aspiring Christian Entrepreneurs: Toward the end of the episode, we discussed practical steps for those who want to integrate their faith into their business. I emphasized the importance of keeping a clear vision, staying grounded in prayer, and surrounding yourself with mentors and a supportive community.
Looking Ahead
My conversation with Jake reminded me that now more than ever, we need business leaders who are driven by a higher calling. When theology meets the world of business, we open the door to transformative change. I’m excited about what the future holds and how we can all use our entrepreneurial skills to serve God and make a real impact.
